If you're suddenly unable to use OpenChat, your use of the service may have been suspended for violating the Regulations for Prohibited Acts in OpenChat (Japan) or the LY Corporation Common Terms of Use (Taiwan and Thailand).

To determine if your account might be suspended, check for any system messages displayed in the app and whether the messages you send are delivered successfully.

Situations where you may be suspended

Your use of OpenChat may be suspended if any of the following apply to you.

  • You see a message saying "Your account has been suspended for violating OpenChat regulations."
  • You cannot send messages in all OpenChats.
  • You cannot create new OpenChat groups or notes.

How suspensions work

If you violate the Regulations for Prohibited Acts in OpenChat (Japan) or the LY Corporation Common Terms of Use (Taiwan and Thailand), you will be notified of the reason for the suspension, and your account may be temporarily suspended.

The suspension can last for periods such as a few hours, a day, a week, or 30 days. Typically, the suspension is lifted within a week, even if the duration isn't specified in the notification.
Note: Depending on the nature of the violation, suspensions may last longer than a week.

  • Posting personal information
  • Engaging in defamation or using excessively critical language
  • Making discriminatory statements or engaging in hate speech
  • Infringing on intellectual property rights, privacy rights, portrait rights, etc.
  • Threatening suicide, self-harm, or harm to others
  • Posting child pornography or engaging in actions that endanger minors
  • Posting content that is obscene, violent, or generally considered offensive by the public
  • Using the service for the purpose of finding people to meet up with in person
  • Engaging in activities that violate the law or could lead to violations
  • Spreading or disseminating clearly false or misleading information
  • Impersonating others
  • Engaging in activities that pose cybersecurity risks
  • Disrupting service operations (trolling behavior)
  • Engaging in activities for the purpose of commercial advertising
  • Engaging in any other actions deemed inappropriate by our company
